Turn_off_HTML_in_your_email_program-HOWTO

WHY SHOULD I TURN OFF HTML IN EMAIL?
Not all email programs can view HTML email as HTML so your email
will look strange to some recipients. And not all programs that can
display HTML email interpret HTML the same way, so what you send
will not always be displayed as you intended. HTML email includes
formating text which makes the message bigger.
